Export Skills Workshop in Tallinn: Expert Consultants Mastery Moves Forward with Global Expertise

Author: Tatia Paradashvili

The Export Consultants Mastery (ECM) 2025-2026 program, a flagship international initiative of the Visionest Institute, continued its transformative journey in Tallinn with the second workshop, focused on Export Skills.

Tallinn, Estonia | 21 August, 2025

Bringing together 35 highly competitive professionals from Georgia, Ukraine, and Estonia, carefully selected through a rigorous process, the workshop represents the next step in shaping expert export consultants ready to make an immediate impact in international trade. ECM combines intensive workshops, immersive study visits, practical team exercises, and expert mentorship, providing a multidimensional learning experience that bridges theory and real-world business practice.

Following the foundations laid during the first workshop, this session emphasized hands-on learning and team collaboration. Participants worked in cross-country teams, continuing to integrate professionals from Georgia, Ukraine, and Estonia. This structure reinforced ECM’s focus on collaboration, knowledge exchange, and real-world problem-solving, preparing participants to work effectively in international contexts and to apply their insights in practical export projects.

The workshop was led by Jean Sutton, a recognized expert in international export strategy. Her sessions guided participants through the fundamentals of gathering and analyzing reliable export information. The sessions highlighted how professionals can access and evaluate sources ranging from government portals and trade journals to industry associations, consultancy reports, and international business events. Beyond exploring research methods, participants were tasked with applying their knowledge in practice by preparing company profiles, identifying unique selling points, selecting potential export markets, and conducting preliminary sector research. This hands-on approach ensured that theory was immediately translated into real-world application.

The program also drew on insights from previous study visits to top Estonian companies, connecting theory with practice. Observing operational excellence and innovative business models firsthand allowed participants to reflect on real-world challenges and translate workshop lessons into practical strategies.

By the end of the workshop, participants returned to their home countries energized, motivated, and fully engaged in the next stages of ECM. Over the coming months, they will continue to participate in advanced workshops, collaborate on practical team assignments, and receive team-by-team mentorship from leading experts in the field. This intensive, year-long program, which will culminate in May 2026 in Tallinn, combines both theoretical and practical learning, reflecting the Visionest Institute’s best practices in professional training and international consultancy development.

Delivered in partnership with the Estonian Centre for International Development Cooperation (ESTDEV), and supported by key regional partners including the EU-Georgia Business Council (EUGBC) and the University of Georgia, the ECM program combines global expertise with local insight to empower a new generation of certified export consultants.
