In the heart of Ukraine’s industrial powerhouse, the Dnipropetrovsk Chamber of Commerce and Industry (Dnipro CCI) is rewriting the playbook for regional export support. Long known as a trusted institution for certification, compliance, and documentation, the Chamber is now taking a bold leap – transforming itself into a strategic growth partner for Ukrainian exporters navigating complex global markets.

This evolution has been catalyzed by participation in the Export Alliance Mastery program, an advanced training initiative designed to elevate export consulting across Ukraine. For Dnipro CCI, the experience has proven transformative, both in mindset and in method.

Empowering Regional Businesses to Go Global

For decades, Dnipro CCI has been a cornerstone of business development in the Dnipropetrovsk region. With over 1,200 member companies and a staff of 80 professionals, the Chamber provides a wide range of services – from export documentation and compliance certification to trade missions and investment matchmaking.

Its mission is clear: to “open global doors for Ukrainian businesses” through structured, expert-driven pathways to international markets. As Vice President Dina Sidash explains, “We aim to be not just a service provider, but the ‘Trade Expert That Opens Global Doors.’ Our role is to guide companies beyond paperwork – toward partnerships, strategy, and global visibility.”

A Shift from Services to Strategy

At the outset of the Export Alliance Mastery program, Dnipro CCI had ambitious goals: to enhance institutional capacity, strengthen the quality of export consulting services, and reinforce its position as a regional leader in trade advisory.

But that required a fundamental shift – from transactional support to strategic consulting.
While the Chamber already had deep expertise in documentation and compliance, the program pushed it toward a more client-centric, story-driven, and impact-oriented model.

“Value-based storytelling can turn a simple service into a compelling reason to trust and engage,” says Sidash. “That was a breakthrough insight for us. Our impact is measured not just in certificates issued, but in success stories created.”

The Challenge: Building Trust, One Company at a Time

Finding client companies for consulting assignments proved both rewarding and demanding. Dnipro CCI began by analyzing its CRM and identifying active exporters within its 1,200+ member network. Outreach efforts included personalized invitations via phone and email, emphasizing tangible benefits such as export strategy development and matchmaking opportunities.

“Companies were moderately willing to participate – especially those already in international trade,” recalls Vladyslav Lukianenko, Head of the Export Support Centre. “But many SMEs are under wartime pressure, with limited staff and time. Building trust and explaining the long-term benefits required persistence.”

Scheduling meetings, collecting measurable data, and managing expectations were among the biggest hurdles. Yet, these challenges deepened the team’s empathy and sharpened its communication strategy.

“Export consulting is not just paperwork – it’s a relationship,” says Lukianenko. “Once companies saw that we were genuinely invested in their growth, they opened up far more than expected.”

Institutional Transformation in Action

After completing all the modules of the program, Dnipro CCI began to implement tangible organizational changes:

  • Systematic storytelling: The team now collects and publishes success stories to showcase impact and inspire trust among potential clients.
  • Cross-functional teamwork: Export consultants now collaborate closely with other departments, improving response time and client experience.
  • Client-centered consulting: Through its Export Manager Service model, the Chamber now provides more tailored, high-impact support to each company.

The shift has already begun to pay off. “We’ve become more strategic, structured, and confident in our consulting,” says Sidash. “Even in times of crisis, we proved that we could deliver quality, learn intensively, and grow professionally.”

A Culture of Continuous Learning

Both team leaders credit the program for dramatically expanding their professional toolkit. From key account management techniques to export storytelling and institutional branding, Dnipro CCI’s consultants are now better equipped to position Ukrainian businesses for global success.

“I didn’t expect how much confidence this program would build,” says Lukianenko. “Now I feel capable not only to consult clients but also to mentor other consultants in our region.”

Their key advice for themselves?
“Don’t wait to be perfect,” says Sidash. “Start applying what you learn immediately, even in small steps. You’ll learn the most by doing.”

Looking Ahead: From Regional Leader to National Model

Would Dnipro CCI apply again if given the chance? “Absolutely,” the team answers without hesitation.

The program offered more than knowledge – it gave the Chamber a renewed sense of mission.
It provided:

  • A fresh perspective on services and institutional identity.
  • Practical tools already delivering measurable results.
  • A cohesive, motivated team ready to lead by example.
  • A stronger voice within Ukraine’s export support ecosystem.

As the Chamber continues to evolve, one thing is clear: Dnipro CCI is no longer just helping businesses cross borders – it’s helping them grow beyond boundaries.
