Alumni Success Story: Wine Diamond Transforms Georgian Winemaking into Jewelry

Author: Tatia Paradashvili

The Visionest Institute team is proud to continue our Georgian Alumni Success Stories series by highlighting the journey of Wine Diamond, a groundbreaking Georgian brand transforming wine into jewelry and captivating audiences both locally and internationally.

Wine Diamond is the first brand in the world to create jewelry from wine crystals. The brand continues to grow every year, astonishing not only Georgia but international audiences as well. The brand continues to grow each year, astonishing not only Georgian audiences but international admirers as well. A striking example of its global recognition is that Sophia Loren now wears Wine Diamond jewelry.

Wine Diamond is one of the Georgian SMEs that successfully completed the Visionest Institute’s Trade Fair Assistance for SMEs in Georgia program – part of the EU-funded Inclusive Access to Markets project implemented by UNDP and ESTDEV. Between September and April, the brand participated in expert-led workshops (both in-person and online), received tailored mentorship from professionals from Estonia and the UK, and showcased its creations at major international trade fairs. Through this program, Wine Diamond enhanced its export readiness, strengthened brand positioning, and honed international negotiation skills, empowering the team to confidently connect with global buyers and present Georgian innovation on the world stage.

This past spring, Wine Diamond was invited to the annual Wine Festival organized by the Sommeliers’ Association of the Côte d’Azur, receiving widespread admiration and acclaim. On August 28, 2025, the brand gained international visibility through an extensive feature in The New York Times, where Tamar Abuladze spoke not only about the company but also highlighted Georgia’s 8,000-year winemaking tradition and the unique Kvevri culture. This marked a historic milestone, as it was the first time a major international publication showcased a Georgian brand and the country in such depth.

In September 2025, Wine Diamond participated in an expo organized by UN Women and the European Bank, where the Visionest Institute team had the pleasure of meeting the founders in person. We witnessed firsthand the creativity, dedication, and positive reception from international visitors. Notably, this exhibition was the first event following the completion of the Visionest Institute export training program, giving the brand an opportunity to apply the knowledge and insights gained directly in practice. This was also the fourth consecutive year the brand participated in the exhibition, further strengthening its credibility and visibility.

Wine Diamond Founder – Tamar Abuladze reflected on the experience:

“The guidance and insights we received from the Visionest Institute mentors were invaluable. Applying their advice at the UN Women exhibition helped us connect more meaningfully with international partners and showcase our brand confidently. It was a proud moment for our team and for Georgian design.”

With the support of the Visionest Institute export training program, Wine Diamond successfully entered the U.S. market in 2025, demonstrating both the brand’s readiness to expand globally and the immense potential of Georgian craftsmanship.

The Visionest Institute team extends gratitude to everyone who made these opportunities possible. Wine Diamond’s journey illustrates how creativity, persistence, and structured mentorship can combine to achieve remarkable growth. Programs like ours equip ambitious entrepreneurs with the tools, confidence, and international perspective needed to thrive beyond local markets.

We congratulate the entire Wine Diamond team for their outstanding achievements and look forward to celebrating their continued success.
